The participating regions in the BRICSCESS is defined as the association of five major emerging national economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (acronym “BRICS”) and all subsequent new entries to the BRICS association. The members of BRICS are all developing or newly industrialized countries and are distinguished by their large fast-growing economies and significant influence on regional and global affairs. The term “regions” shall be utilized in the BRICSCESS. All academies, research institutes, universities, researchers, and students in the field of exercise related to exercise and sports science from all regions in BRICS and subsequent entries into BRICS, may participate as members of the BRICSCESS, and may participate in the activities of the BRICSCESS for the duration of his / her / its membership.
The conditions pertaining to membership and payment of membership fees shall be determined by the
Council from time to time. There shall be four types of membership as follows:
- Institutional membership: Institutions who have a professional interest in the field related to exercise and sports science, such as (but not limited to) universities, research institutions, sports governing bodies and similar institutions (not individual persons); fees: Cost- US$ 400 valid for 4 years (alternatively US$100 per year)
- Professional individual membership: Persons (not institutions) who have a professional interest in a field related to exercise and sports science; Cost – fees: US$ 100 valid for 4 years (alternatively US$ 25 per year)
- Student membership: Undergraduate and graduate students who are majoring in disciplines related to exercise and sports science; fees:US$ 40 valid for 4 years (alternatively US$ 10 per year)and
- Life membership; Persons (not institutions) who have a professional interest in a field related to exercise and sports science. Fees: US$ 300
